New Masonry

FOUNDATION CMU

  • Furnish, set-up, maintain, dismantle and remove all equipment (forklift, tube scaffolding, ladders, hand tools, etc.) necessary for the masonry portion of the project.
  • Furnish and install one (1) course of standard gray 12” or  8” CMU below grade as per drawings.  Block is to be installed using natural gray type ‘S’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish.
  • CMU to be fully grouted per drawings.
  • It is understood this scope of work will require a separate mobilization separating it from the balance of masonry work on the project.

CMU VENEER

  • Furnish and install a combination of standard gray 4” split-face and smooth-face CMU necessary for erecting new masonry veneer walls as per drawings.  Block is to be installed in standard running bond using natural gray type ‘S’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish.
  • Veneer to be anchored to substrate using one (1) two-piece adjustable anchor installed every 32” O.C. horizontally and 24” O.C. vertically.
  • Furnish and install Mortar Net (or approved equal) in wall cavity at the base of masonry walls and over openings in masonry as per drawings.
  • Install steel lintels furnished by others on project site.
  • Furnish and install 40mil self-adhesive flashing over a 1½” stainless steel drip edge at the base of masonry walls and over openings in masonry with plastic cell vent “weeps” installed in masonry head joints every 24” O.C.

CULTURED STONE VENEER

  • Furnish and install cultured stone veneer on four (4) columns as per drawings.  Approximately 400 S.F. of stone to be installed.
  • Installation to consist of installing one (1) layer of 15lb felt paper over sheathing, fastening metal lath over felt paper to studs using galvanized screws with lath washers and applying mortar scratch coat to metal lath.
  • Once scratch coat has dried, stone is to be adhered using mortar in a random “ashlar” pattern.  Manufactured 90 degree corner pieces are to be used at outside corners.
  • Once stone has set, joints are to be grouted using natural gray mortar and tooled to a final finish.
  • Furnish and install foundation weep screed at the base of stone veneer.
  • Chemical washing of cultured stone masonry upon completion of project.  Chemical washing to consist of applying one (1) coat of Light Duty Cleaner as manufactured by Prosoco with hand held sprayers, brushing into masonry surface and rinsing clean with high-pressure water.

TRASH ENCLOSURE

  • Furnish and install a combination of split-face and smooth-face standard gray 8” CMU necessary for erecting trash enclosure walls to a height of 6’-0”.  Block is to be installed in standard running bond using natural gray type ‘S’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish.
  • Furnish and install fully grouted bond beam at the top of masonry walls with two (2) grade 60 #5 rebar installed.  Bond beam to have ½” x 8” galvanized anchor bolt installed every 48” O.C. for the installation of coping nailer by others.
  • Vertical reinforcement to be one (1) grade 60 #5 rebar installed every 24” O.C. CMU cores containing vertical reinforcing bars to be grouted solid.
  • Horizontal reinforcement to be hot-dipped ladder type wire installed in masonry coursing every 16” O.C. vertically.
